A week in a small medieval village in Tuscany surrounded by an ancient forest. A “Albergo Diffuso” in the heart of the mountains of the Casentino valley dotted with ancient castles and defined by the Arno River.

For a week you will live as part of the community of the village, comfortably staying renovated in the original stone structure renewed respecting the tradition but with all the comforts.
A vehicle with private driver will come to collect you directly at the village for a day to be spent in total relaxation accompanied by an experienced guide.
The day begins with the visit of the La Verna Sanctuary, a place of peace and prayer, where St. Francis of Assisi received the stigmata in 1224. Here surrounded by a forest of fir and beech trees you can admire the glazed terracotta by Della Robbia, the bed of St. Francis, the particular compositions of the rocks that create an elegant combination between nature and architecture, in an atmosphere of prayer and spirituality.
Going down the valley, brief stop in Chiusi, childhood country of Michelangelo Buonarroti, to take pictures at the unmistakable landscape that forms the background to the creation of Adam in the Sistine Chapel; visit to the Castle of the Guidi Family of Poppi, built in the 13th century and a “prototype” of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
Followed by a walk to visit the Abbey of San Fedele and the Baroque Oratory of the Madonna del Morbo.
After lunch, you will be welcomed at the Hermitage of Camaldoli, Benedictine monastery in the middle of the Casentino Forests National Park. Immersed in the silence of the forest, you can visit the monks’ cells-houses, including that of the founder St. Romuald and the Church of the Saviour; admire works of art of inestimable value, like five large plates of Giorgio Vasari; buy herbal teas and liquors, cosmetics and other things prepared in the ancient pharmacy.

An easy walk starting from the picturesque Castle of Romena, the bastion of the Guidi family, passing through the ancient path that passes from Fonte Branda, cited by Dante Alighieri in the Divine Comedy, to get to the Romanesque church of San Pietro a Romena. The tour then continues up to Pratovecchio with a visit to the village and to the monastery and church of St John.
Duration: half day. Difficulty: Easy. The meeting point to be reached independently.

Learn in an easy and fun way to cook traditional Italian recipes, such as fresh egg pasta, stuffed pasta, soups and risotto dishes, with fresh seasonal and zero-mileage ingredients, directly from the producer. After the course, the dishes prepared will be enjoyed together.
